What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences over time. Similar technologies include local storage, which stores data in your browser without sending it with every request.
Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the website to function. They support the basket, checkout and website security. They cannot be turned off because the site would not work correctly without them.
Basket and checkout cookies
Your basket contents are held in your browser's session memory while you browse, so they are not stored in a persistent cookie on your device. When you proceed to checkout, payment is handled securely by Stripe, which uses its own cookies on the Stripe checkout pages to process your transaction safely.
Security cookies
If you sign in to your OptiBlood account, the platform sets a session token so you remain signed in securely. This is strictly necessary for security and is active only for the duration of your session.
Preference cookies
Your cookie consent choice is stored in your browser's local storage so we can remember your preference next time you visit. This does not track you and is used only to apply your choice.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies, if enabled, help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. They are only loaded after you accept optional analytics cookies. No analytics cookies are active unless you have given consent.
Marketing cookies
Marketing cookies, if enabled, measure the effectiveness of our advertising. They are only loaded after you accept optional marketing cookies. We do not currently run active marketing campaigns that set marketing cookies.
Third-party providers
When you reach the Stripe checkout, Stripe may set its own cookies on the Stripe domain to process your payment securely. These are outside our control and are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
Cookie duration
Strictly necessary session tokens last for your browsing session. Your consent preference is stored for up to 12 months. Analytics and marketing cookies, where accepted, are set by the relevant provider and last for the duration set by that provider.
Cookies currently in use
The table below lists only cookies and technologies genuinely present on this website. We do not list cookies that are not in use.
| Cookie / technology | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration | Consent required |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Session token | Base44 platform | Keeps you signed in and secures the site | Strictly necessary | Session | No |
| optiblood_cookie_consent (local storage) | OptiBlood | Stores your cookie consent preference | Preference | Up to 12 months | No (required to remember your choice) |
| Stripe checkout cookies | Stripe (checkout.stripe.com) | Secure payment processing during checkout | Strictly necessary (third-party) | Session | No |
Analytics and marketing cookies are not loaded until you give consent. None are currently active by default.
How to withdraw consent
You can accept or reject optional cookies, or manage your preferences, using the cookie banner when you first visit. You can also change your choice at any time by selecting "Cookie Settings" in the website footer. Withdrawing consent will stop optional cookies from loading on future visits.
How browser settings affect cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the basket and checkout from working. Most browsers also offer a "private" or "incognito" mode that limits cookies for that session.
